This study programme ensures research & practice-led studies of the physical environment with a special focus on the marine environment. The main aim of the programme is to prepare highly qualified specialists who are able to creatively apply the acquired knowledge of geo-information technologies and physical geography in the fields of the marine environment, land management, and environmental protection.
Klaipeda University is among 200 top universities worldwide in the field of Oceanography (according to Shanghai rankings).
The main courses in the curriculum include Oceanography, Remote Sensing Methods, GIS, Hydrology, and Meteorology and Climatology, as well as a number of field practices onboard our marine research vessel.
While studying this course, students learn more about the environment by acquiring fundamental knowledge and applying the most advanced technologies from drones to satellite image analysis. This knowledge can help monitor and provide a location analysis, assess environmental impact, analyse historical data and provide reports to help protect our oceans and planet. |
Graduates can interpret natural, climatic and social phenomena and can apply this knowledge in practice while working in various nature protection departments and other environmental protection institutions, or hydrometeorological services. |
