About the program

The Leisure Sports study programme is both relevant and unique: the study subjects are oriented towards the development of specific physical activities in the coastal area, utilizing the resources of the beach and the Baltic Sea. The study programme includes a Pedagogical Studies module of 60 study credits for obtaining a physical education teacher's qualification. Students are obliged to choose one of three specializations: BasketballFootball, Sports Dances or Leisure sports specialization, all of which are prepared and implemented with Lithuanian and foreign social partners. This ensures the implementation of the latest educational technologies in the study process.

BASKETBALL specialization: Basketball coach qualification

Basketball is a fast-growing industry that needs specialist professionals, and choosing KU’s Leisure Sports study programme with a Basketball specialization will give you the skills, experience, and contacts to help gain employment in the Basketball industry, whether as a coach, performance analyst, or as a member of the sports science support staff. The basketball specialization has been developed and will be implemented in cooperation with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LBF) and International Basketball University (IBU). This will ensure that the latest educational technologies are introduced in the study process and will correspond to the needs of students and the market.

FOOTBALL specialization

If you are passionate about football, then choosing KU’s Leisure Sports study programme with a Football specialization can provide you with the skills you need to thrive in various roles across the football industry. In this programme, we share the methodological proposal used and developed within FC Barcelona. This specialization is based on the theoretical models that have revolutionized the way of understanding the dynamics of team sports and the paradigm of contemporary sports practice.

KU has entered into a partnership with the Lithuanian Football Federation, which will benefit KU Leisure Sports Football specialization students by enabling them to obtain UEFA C and B category coaching licenses during their studies.

SPORT DANCES specialization

This sports and arts branch has been receiving special attention in Lithuania and other European countries for many years. Students who choose the specialization in Leisure Sports program - Sports Dances - will develop skills in both standard and Latin American dances. This program will provide the necessary skills to work as dance trainers or teachers in general education schools. Upon completion of the specialization, graduates will obtain a Bachelor's degree in sports and a professional qualification in teaching.

LEISURE SPORTS specialization

Career oportunities

Graduates will acquire a bachelor’s degree in sports and physical education teacher’s professional qualification. Graduates will be able to work as coaches in basketball clubs, sports and fitness specialists at sports and health centers, social organizations, public and private sports organizations, and as teachers in public and private schools.
