Last week, during the AMBeR (Advanced Modeling of Baltic Cancer E-Care) project partners' meeting at Klaipeda University, which was also attended by the Klaipeda University Rector Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, and the General Director of Klaipeda University Hospital Dr. Audrius Šimaitis, the progress of the innovation project was discussed. While the research protocol has been already collaboratively developed, the physical activity program for oncology patients is underway.
In Lithuania, there is currently no established tradition or practice for oncological rehabilitation. However, Klaipeda University Hospital has launched a pilot program where rehabilitation specialists work directly with oncology patients. The international study carried out in the framework of the AMBeR project will allow to refer to rehabilitation programs used in other countries when providing rehabilitation services to the patients of Klaipeda University Hospital. After the study, evidence-based guidelines for physical rehabilitation for oncology patients will be developed.
