"I am extremely happy and proud that my work has been noticed and acknowledged with such an esteemed national award. Perhaps the greatest gift of all is the people who recognised and appreciated my efforts and dedication, who nominated me for this honour and wrote letters of recommendation," said Associate Professor V. Kochanskytė, who was awarded the Medal of the Order for Merits to Lithuania, expressing her gratitude.
According to the Head of State, the awards were given to individuals whose lives serve as a great source of inspiration—living proof of a courageous, dignified, and modern state.
"We honour those who, with great passion, nurture our common home—an eternally flourishing Lithuania—every single day. Those who tirelessly contribute to science, culture, education, sport, and other fields, who foster the spiritual strength of our society, ensure the country's defence and security, build bridges of international cooperation, and strengthen not only their own communities and country but the world as a whole. Those who, at the risk of their own lives, heroically sacrifice themselves to save others," stated President Nausėda.
The prestigious honours were presented to distinguished Lithuanian and foreign citizens at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, marking the 107th anniversary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state.
