Klaipeda University (KU) Methodical STEAM Center gathered one team each for both age categories. The KU STEAM Junior team led by the coach Gediminas Gricius (Associate Professor, PhD, KU STEAM center methodologist) won the golden first place in the beginner (8-12 years old) category at the national Olympiad stage held in Utena. The duo of Augustas Gricius and Rokas Valaitis won a ticket to the international final stage, which will take place in November in Turkey, where the teams that won the national stages in their countries will meet. The winners also received an invitation to participate in the "EDU Robo Camp" preparation camp for the final stage, which will be held at EDUTUS University in Hungary on August 11-17.
We are please to share that pupils Klaipėda city schools won in both age categories: in the Junior group, the students of Klaipėda Martynas Mažvydas pro-gymnasium won the golden ticket to the finals.
The World Robot Olympiad has been organized for twenty years – the first WRO competition took place in 2004. Based on its mission, WRO aims to bring together young people around the world to develop creativity, design and problem-solving skills through educational robotics competitions and workshops. WRO tournaments are organized in more than 70 countries. The main goal of this competition is to inspire students to study STEM subjects and develop their skills using game elements in the competition.
