The school’s program covered all key components of the Earth system – the atmosphere, oceans, the Baltic Sea, land surface, as well as terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The content was designed to reflect the interests and expectations of young scientists. Lectures were delivered by researchers and professors from the international Baltic Earth community, coastal universities, and marine research institutes, offering engaging and insightful presentations on their fields of study. | ![]() |
Young scientists presented their own research, actively participated in discussions, joined fieldwork sessions, and worked on scientific solutions to current challenges related to marine ecosystem conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The winter school was organized by the Marine Research Institute of Klaipeda University, in cooperation with the international Baltic Earth Secretariat at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, and the international green energy company Ignitis Renewables, which is developing the first offshore wind farm in the Baltic States – Curonian Nord.
