Klaipeda University (KU) invites visitors of the "Klaipėda BOAT SHOW" event to familiarize themselves with unique boats related to science and innovation. These will be presented by a group of KU professors and students at the event.
Everyone interested will have the opportunity to see and learn about the exceptional electric-powered boat live. It is the result of the Electric Ship Modernization Project (ELMAR). The boat was constructed in the premises of the KU Marine Research Institute. In 1980, a production boat was converted into an electric experimental-demonstration boat. The project aimed to prove that it is possible to sail without noise, without the smell and smoke typical of oil-driven boats, without lubricants, and without risking environmental pollution.
Additionally, models of the research vessel "Mintis" and an autonomous ferry will be presented. There will be educational sessions during which attendees can try out the ship cargo simulator.
We look forward to welcoming everyone interested in getting a closer look at the research results in the field of navigation.
