Opportunities for Lithuanians Abroad to Study in Lithuania

Application submission for general admission in Lithuanian higher education institutions

EU/EEA citizens, people of Lithuanian origin or non-EU/EEA nationals who have a right of permanent residence in Lithuania can be accepted to the state-funded study places in Lithuanian higher education institutions or claim for scholarships in accordance with the procedures established by the applicable legislation.

In order to apply state-funded study places, one needs to complete an application form of general admission via the website of the Association of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions LAMA BPO. The time to do it is usually between 1st June and 22nd July.

Application submission calendar for financial support for Lithuanians living abroad

Lithuanians living abroad may receive two types of financial support: a scholarship and/or a social allowance. The scholarship is awarded for one academic semester and is paid monthly until the end of that semester. The social allowance is a one-time payment granted based on the applicant's social situation. A student is eligible to receive both types of support. Financial aid is not provided to students studying the languages of the countries from which they originate.

Lithuanians living abroad who wish to apply for support must complete their application through the "Parama" Scholarships and Financial Support Information System. Find the steps and eligibility criteria here.

Application submission deadlines:

  • For the spring semester – from January 15 to February 20.
  • For the fall semester – from August 15 to September 30.
