Another, third, centre of research and medical advancement has emerged, providing medical services of the highest - tertiary - level. The aim and meaning of this merge is the pooling of the potential, specialisation of activities, rational allocation of human and material resources, and the integration of scientific and international experience into the treatment and nursing processes. All this will guarantee more effective treatment, care, and rehabilitation for the people of this region.
The community of Klaipėda University brings its strengths - its research potential and its internationalism - to the merge. A decade ago, the European academic and scientific world started discussing the pooling of research forces of the Old Continent in order to make European research competitive with the US or China. President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron's idea of establishing European university alliances has become a reality. In 2019, Klaipėda University became a partner of EU-CONEXUS. Recognising that human health encompasses a much broader approach: a balance of both living beings and environmental health, without which human health becomes impossible, we opt for a sustainable course. Nursing, rehabilitation, and spas will be the hallmarks of the new Klaipėda University Hospital. These areas are prominent in the EU-CONEXUS themes. A number of partners have strong medical science centres and experience in managing university hospitals. Working together will give us more opportunities to develop interdisciplinary research.
