THE Impact Rankings assess universities against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Presented for the first time to the academic community in 2019, the rankings take into account the impact of institutions on society and their contribution to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges related to environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships.
This year, 2,152 universities from 125 countries were ranked. KU scored 64.5-69.8 points. The university shares 601-800 places with other higher education institutions around the world.
KU scored highest in the following categories: Quality Education (75.9 points), Partnerships for the Goals (59.9-67.4 points), Gender Equality (48.2-55.2 points), and Reduced Inequalities (47.2-56.4 points).
KU’s impressive ranking in SDG4, Quality Education, is 79 out of more than 2,000 universities assessed. And in SDG14 Life Below Water, KU shares a high ranking of 201-300.
KU has a long history of working consistently to address sustainability challenges. And since 2019, the university has joined the EU-CONEXUS (European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability) alliance, where it is working with 8 other partner universities to develop sustainable solutions for coastal cities and regions.
