The celebratory event, which is usually attended not only by representatives of the KU academic community and graduates, but also by their families and relatives, took place in Klaipėda's Švyturys Arena, where, in addition to solemn congratulatory speeches, the graduates were presented with a musical gift from performer Rokas YAN and his band.
In his congratulatory speech, Rector of KU prof. dr. Artūras Razbadauskas expressed his satisfaction that the University has raised yet another group of strong, self-confident, creative and energetic people. "We bid you farewell, we rejoice with you, and wish you to create 559 success stories," said Rector Artūras Razbadauskas.
The graduates were congratulated by Mayor of Klaipėda City Arvydas Vaitkus and President of the KU Student Union Aidas Čurovas.
As many as 15 graduates of this cohort graduated with highest grades and were awarded diplomas with honours.
Justinas Valius, a graduate of the Informatics Engineering study programme at the Faculty of Marine Technologies and Natural Sciences, was awarded a one-time scholarship by the Association of Klaipėda's Industrialists for his final thesis Production Line Monitoring System Integrating Raspberry Pi and OEE Efficiency Indicators. Aušra Meškauskienė, Master of Social Work, was awarded the prize of Klaipėda Queen Louise Rotary Club. Her final thesis Social Assistance to Families in Preventing Institutional Care of Children was evaluated as the best thesis in the field of childcare. Three other graduates – Evelina Žukauskaitė, Rugilė Šipšinskė, and Deividas Bružas – were awarded cash prizes by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Council of the Baltic Institute of History and Archaeology for their good study results.
At the event, another KU affiliate professor was announced. On 15 June, KU Senate approved granting the status of affiliate professor to dr Jūratė Lubienė, a PhD in Humanities, for a five-year period. She was presented with the confirmation documents and a gold KU badge.
